Pressing

insert

overwrite

modes,

and

turns

the

INS

indicator

on

and

off

accordingly.

In

overwrite

mode

(indicator

INS

off),

each

character

you

type

replaces

the

current

character.

You

type

over

the

existing

data

and

your

new

data

replaces

the

old

data.

(Overwrite

is

the

"default";

that

is,

every

time

the

power

is

turned

ON,

the

word

processor

starts

in

Overwrite.)
