Move or store the printer If you need to move the printer, take care to prepare it correctly to avoid possible damage. To prepare the printer: 1. Do not remove the ink cartridges or printhead. 2. Make sure that no paper is loaded. 3. Turn off the printer using the Power key at the back. 4. Unplug the printer's power cord. 5. Disconnect any cables connecting the printer to a network or a computer. CAUTION: If you turn the printer upside down, ink could escape into the printer and cause serious damage. When the printer is turned back on, it takes about three minutes to initialize itself and to check and prepare the printhead. Preparing the printhead normally takes just over a minute. However, if the printer has been off for a eight weeks or more, preparing the printhead could take up to a few minutes. CAUTION: If the printer remains off for a long period of time, the printhead may become unusable. In this case, you need to replace the printhead with a new one. Firmware update The printer's various functions are controlled by firmware that resides in the printer. From time to time firmware updates will be available from HP. These updates improve the printer's functionality, enhance its features, and may correct minor problems. IMPORTANT: You are strongly recommended to update the firmware periodically in order to take advantage of the latest developments. There are various ways of downloading and installing firmware updates; you can choose whichever you find most convenient. They can be divided into two categories: automatic and manual updates. Automatic firmware updates Automatic firmware updates are available for printers connected to the Web. Your printer can automatically download the latest firmware release and install it for you. IMPORTANT: Your printer must be connected to the Internet and the firmware update setting must be set to "Install updates automatically". To configure automatic firmware updates: ● From the control panel: Menu > Settings > Firmware Update. ● From the EWS: General > Firmware Update > Firmware update tap. Move or store the printer
