DGS-6604 m vrrp priority vrrp priority To set the priority of the virtual router, use the vrrp priority command in VRRP interface configuration mode. To restore the default priority value of the virtual router, use the no form of this command. vrrp VRID priority PRIORITY no vrrp VRID priority Syntax Description VRID Specifies the virtual router identifier, which is the number that identifies the virtual router fthat the priority is being configured for. The virtual router identifier is configured with the command "vrrp ip" on page 917. PRIORITY Range is from 1 to 255. Specifies the priority of the virtual router. Higher values equal higher priority. Range is from 1 to 254 Default Command Mode Usage Guideline Examples Priority: 100 Interface configuration Use this command to control which router becomes the master router. This command is ignored while the router is the virtual IP address owner. The router with the highest priority will become the master, and other routers with lower priority will then become the backups for the virtual router. Each router should be configured with different priority values. If there is more than one router accidently configured to have the same highest priority, then one of them will become the master which depends on which one of them sends the advertisement packet out first. If the advertisement packets are sent out at the same time, the primary IP address (see Note 1) will be compared. The router with greater primary IP address becomes the master. Note 1: the primary IP address is the interface IP address that is configured by the command "ip address" on page 216. The following example shows how to configure the router with a priority of 200.
