13 Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) Dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) is an application layer protocol that dynamically assigns IP addresses and other configuration parameters to network end-stations (hosts) based on the configuration policies the network administrators determine. The Dell Networking OS supports the basic DHCP commands as described in the following sections: • Configure a DHCP Server and DHCP Clients • Configure Secure DHCP and DHCP Relay Topics: • Configure a DHCP Server and DHCP Clients • Configure Secure DHCP and DHCP Relay Configure a DHCP Server and DHCP Clients To configure the system to be a DHCP server and to manually configure DHCP clients, use the following commands. clear ip dhcp Reset the DHCP counters.
