The default STP parameters are adequate for most networks. The range for the parameter is 4 through 30 seconds. Example The following command sets the forward delay from STPD1 to 20 seconds: configure stpd stpd1 forwarddelay 20 configure stpd hellotime configure stpd hellotime Description Specifies the time delay (in seconds) between the transmission of BPDUs from this STPD when it is the root bridge. Syntax Description stpd_name seconds Specifies an STPD name on the switch. Specifies the hello time in seconds. The default is 2 seconds, and the range is 1 to 10 seconds. Default The default hello time is 2 seconds. Usage Guidelines If your STPD has the same name as another component, for example a VLAN, NETGEAR recommends that you specify the identifying keyword as well as the name. If your STPD has a name unique only to that STPD, the keyword stpd is optional. In an MSTP environment, configure the hello timer only on the CIST, not on the MSTIs.
