www.dell.com | support.dell.com ROUTER RIP Mode Use the ROUTER RIP mode to configure RIP on the C-Series or E-Series, as described in Chapter 33, Router Information Protocol (RIP). To enter ROUTER RIP mode: 1. Verify that you are logged into the CONFIGURATION mode. 2. Enter the router rip command.The prompt changes to include (conf-router_rip). You can switch to the INTERFACE mode by using the interface command or you can switch to the ROUTER OSPF mode by using the router ospf command. ROUTER BGP Mode Use the ROUTER BGP mode to configure BGP on the C-Series or E-Series, as described in Chapter 8, Border Gateway Protocol IPv4(BGPv4). To enter ROUTER BGP mode: 1. Verify that you are logged into the CONFIGURATION mode. 2. Enter the router bgp as-number command.The prompt changes to include (conf-router_bgp). You can return to the CONFIGURATION mode by entering the exit command. Determining the Chassis Mode The chassis mode in FTOS determines which hardware is being supported in an E-Series chassis. The chassis mode is programmed into an EEPROM on the backplane of the chassis and the change takes place only after the chassis is rebooted. Configuring the appropriate chassis mode enables the system to use all the ports on the card and recognize all software features. 24 | CLI Basics
