Syntax area area-id virtual-link router-id [[authentication-key [encryption-type] key] | [message-digest-key keyid md5 [encryption-type] key]] [dead-interval seconds] [hello-interval seconds] [retransmit-interval seconds] [transmit-delay seconds] To delete a virtual link, use the no area area-id virtual-link router-id command. To delete a parameter of a virtual link, use the no area area-id virtual-link router-id [[authentication-key [encryption-type] key] | [message-digest-key keyid md5 [encryption-type] key]] [dead-interval seconds] [hello-interval seconds] [retransmit-interval seconds] [transmit-delay seconds] command syntax. Parameters area-id router-id authentication-key [encryption-type] key | message-digest-key keyid md5 [encryption-type] key dead-interval seconds hello-interval seconds retransmit-interval seconds transmit-delay seconds Specify the transit area for the virtual link in dotted decimal format (A.B.C.D.) or enter a number from zero (0) to 65535. Specify an ID (IP address in dotted decimal format) associated with a virtual link neighbor. (OPTIONAL) Choose between two authentication methods: • Enter the keyword authentication-key to enable simple authentication followed by an alphanumeric string up to 8 characters long. Optionally, for the encryption-type variable, enter the number 7 before entering the key string to indicate that an encrypted password will follow. • Enter the keyword message-digest-key followed by a number from 1 to 255 as the keyid. After the keyid, enter the keyword md5 followed by the key. The key is an alphanumeric string up to 16 characters long. Optionally, for the encryption-type variable, enter the number 7 before entering the key string to indicate that an encrypted password will follow. (OPTIONAL) Enter the keyword dead-interval followed by a number as the number of seconds for the interval. Range: 1 to 8192. Default: 40 seconds. (OPTIONAL) Enter the keyword hello-interval followed by the number of seconds for the interval. Range: 1 to 8192. Default: 10 seconds. (OPTIONAL) Enter the keyword retransmit-interval followed by the number of seconds for the interval. Range: 1 to 8192. Default: 5 seconds. (OPTIONAL) Enter the keyword transmit-delay followed by the number of seconds for the interval. Range: 1 to 8192. Default: 1 second. Defaults dead-interval seconds = 40 seconds; hello-interval seconds = 10 seconds; retransmit-interval seconds = 5 seconds; transmit-delay seconds = 1 second Command Modes ROUTER OSPF 706 | Open Shortest Path First (OSPFv2 and OSPFv3)
