www.dell.com | support.dell.com Important Points to Remember • Typically, 5-second timeout and 3-second retry values on an SNMP server are sufficient for both local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) applications. If you experience a timeout with these values, the recommended best practice on Dell Force10 switches (to accommodate their high port density) is to increase the timeout and retry values on your SNMP server to the following: - SNMP Timeout-greater than 3 seconds - SNMP Retry count-greater than 2 seconds • If you are using access control lists (ACLs) in SNMP v3 configuration, group ACL overrides user ACL if the user is part of that group. • SNMP operations are not supported on a virtual LAN (VLAN). show snmp Display the status of SNMP network elements.
