Usage Guidelines SNTP can be used by the switch to update and synchronize its internal clock from a Network Time Protocol (NTP) server. After the SNTP client has been enabled, the switch sends out a periodic query to the indicated NTP server, or the switch listens to broadcast NTP updates. In addition, the switch supports the configured setting for Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) offset and the use of Daylight Savings Time (DST). Example The following command enables the SNTP client: enable sntp-client enable telnet enable telnet Description Enables external Telnet services on the system. The 8800 OS introduces the concept of safe defaults mode. Safe defaults mode runs an interactive script that allows you to enable or disable SNMP, Telnet, and switch ports. When you set up your switch for the first time, you must connect to the console port to access the switch. After logging in to the switch, you enter safe defaults mode.
