Logging in Commands 39 set authentication Syntax password set authentication password { cipher | simple } password undo set authentication password View User interface view Parameter cipher: Configure to display the password in encrypted text. simple: Configure to display the password in plain text. password: If the authentication is in the simple mode, the password must be in plain text. If the authentication is in the cipher mode, the password can be either in encrypted text or in plain text. If a plain text password is entered when cipher mode has been selected, the password will be displayed in the configuration settings as encrypted. A plain text password is a sequential character string of no more than 16 digits, for example, 3Com918.
