80 CHAPTER 3: USING VLAN COMMANDS VLAN Configuration Commands This section describes the commands you can use to configure and manage the VLANs and VLAN interfaces on your system. description Syntax description string undo description View VLAN view Parameter string: Enter a description of the current VLAN, up to a maximum of 32 characters. For a description of a VLAN interface, the maximum is 80 characters. Description Use the description command to set a description for the current VLAN. Use the undo description command to cancel the description of current VLAN. The default description character string of the current VLAN is no description!. The default description character string of the VLAN interface is the interface name, for example, vlan-interface1. Related command: display vlan. Example To give VLAN1 the description "RESEARCH", enter the following: system-view System View: return to User View with Ctrl+Z. [SW5500]vlan 1 [SW5500-vlan1]description RESEARCH display interface Syntax VLAN-interface display interface vlan-interface [ vlan_id ] View All views Parameter vlan_id: Enter the ID number of the VLAN interface, ranging from 1 to 4094. Description Use the display interface vlan-interface command to view the information about a specific VLAN interface, or all VLAN interfaces. The information displayed includes: ■ Current status of the interface ■ Current status of the line protocol
