ip pim graceful-restart This feature permits configuration of non-stop forwarding (NSF or graceful restart) capability on a PIM enabled router. Syntax Parameters ip pim graceful-restart {nsf [restart-time | stale-entry-time]} nsf Enter the keyword nsf to configure the non-stop forwarding capability. NOTE: ip pim graceful-restart nsf is applicable for the entire multicast sub-system. restart-time stale-entry-time (OPTIONAL) Enter the keywords restart-time followed by the number of seconds estimated for the PIM speaker to restart. The range is 30 to 300 seconds. The default is 180 seconds. (OPTIONAL) Enter the keywords stale-entry-time followed by the number of seconds for which entries are kept alive after restart. The range is 30 to 300 seconds. The default is 60 seconds. Usage Information The PIM-SM component uses the graceful-restart feature to relearn the PIM JOIN messages (*,G/S,G) from upstream neighbors. The upstream neighbors detect the RPM failover of the downstream router, on reception of a different gen-id in the PIM-hello message. They then start to send relevant PIM JOINs to the downstream router after establishing neighbor-ship with the new active RPM. ip pim join-filter Permit or deny PIM Join/Prune messages on an interface using an extended IP access list. This command prevents the PIM-SM router from creating state based on multicast source and/or group. C9000 Series Syntax Parameters ip pim [vrf vrf-name] join-filter ext-access-list To remove the access list, use the no ip pim [vrf vrf-name] join-filter ext-accesslist command. vrf vrf-name ext-access-list (OPTIONAL) Enter the keyword vrf followed by the name of the VRF to permit or deny PIM join or prune messages on an interface associated with that VRF. ip pim graceful-restart

This feature permits configuration of non-stop forwarding (NSF or graceful restart) capability on a PIM enabled router.

Syntax

ip pim graceful-restart {nsf [restart-time | stale-entry-time]}

Parameters

nsf

Enter the keyword

nsf

to configure the non-stop forwarding capability.

NOTE:

ip pim graceful-restart nsf

is applicable for the entire

multicast sub-system.

restart-time

(OPTIONAL) Enter the keywords

restart-time

followed by the number of

seconds estimated for the PIM speaker to restart. The range is 30 to 300 seconds.

The default is

180 seconds

stale-entry-time

(OPTIONAL) Enter the keywords

stale-entry-time

followed by the number of

seconds for which entries are kept alive after restart. The range is 30 to 300

seconds. The default is

60 seconds

Usage

Information

The PIM-SM component uses the graceful-restart feature to relearn the PIM JOIN messages (*,G/S,G)

from upstream neighbors. The upstream neighbors detect the RPM failover of the downstream router, on

reception of a different gen-id in the PIM-hello message. They then start to send relevant PIM JOINs to

the downstream router after establishing neighbor-ship with the new active RPM.

ip pim join-filter

Permit or deny PIM Join/Prune messages on an interface using an extended IP access list. This command prevents the PIM-SM

router from creating state based on multicast source and/or group.

C9000 Series

Syntax

ip pim [vrf

vrf-name

] join-filter

ext-access-list

To remove the access list, use the

no ip pim [vrf

vrf-name

] join-filter ext-access-

list

command.

Parameters

vrf

vrf-name

(OPTIONAL) Enter the keyword

vrf

followed by the name of the VRF to permit or

deny PIM join or prune messages on an interface associated with that VRF.

ext-access-list

Enter the name of an extended access list.
