Formatting Documents To use a template for easy document creation and formatting, see chapter 1 "Getting Started." This section describes the features that make it quick and easy to create formatted documents. This section describes how to: S Format paragraphs by changing alignment, spacing, margins, tabs, borders, and other attributes. S Find text quickly and replace it with different text. S Add headers and footers to your document. S Add a title page to your document. S Proof your document using spell checking features and an online thesaurus. S Use and manage styles to save formatting time and to give your documents a consistent look. Formatting Paragraphs "To set custom line spacing: 1. Select one or more paragraphs you want to change. 2. Choose Line Spacing from the Paragraph menu. A submenu appears. 3. Choose Custom Spacing from the submenu. A dialog box appears. 4. Select Automatic for automatic line spacing or Manual for more precise control. 5. Set the line spacing option you want: S Line Spacing. If Automatic is selected, select the line spacing you want. S Manual Leading. If Manual is selected, select the manual line spacing you want. 6. Click on Apply to apply your changes to selected paragraphs. 7. Click on Close to close the dialog box. "To change paragraph spacing: 1. Select one or more paragraphs you want to change. 2. Choose Paragraph Spacing from the Paragraph menu. A dialog box appears. 3. Fill in the dialog box, selecting the options you want: S Space On Top. Select the space you want to appear before a paragraph. S Space On Bottom. Select the space you want to appear after a paragraph. 4. Click on Apply to apply your changes to selected paragraphs. 5. Click on Close to close the dialog box. Word Processing 92
