After you create an object, resize handles appear around the object, and a move handle appears in the center of the object. You can use these handles to move and resize the object. Handles also indicate that an object is selected. "To move or resize a rectangle or ellipse: 1. Place the pointer over the resize handles or the move handle, hold down the left mouse button, and move the mouse. The object changes size or location. Move handle Resize handles 2. Click somewhere else in the drawing area that is not occupied by an object to remove the handles from the object. "To create a perfect square or circle: Hold down SHIFT while drawing either a rectangle or an ellipse. The object will maintain a perfect shape no matter what size you draw it. "To create an unfilled object: Press CODE while you click and drag to create a shape. When you release the mouse button, the unfilled object appears: Unfilled object Filled object Hold down SHIFT while drawing a line to constrain the line to horizontal, vertical, or 45 degrees in between. "To draw a line: 1. Select the Line tool from the tool bar. The pointer changes to crosshairs when you move it into the drawing area. 2. Move the crosshairs to where you want to start your line. (You do not have to move it exactly to the right place now; you can change it later.) 3. Press the left mouse button, and while holding it down, drag the mouse until the line is as long and in the direction you want. Drawing 209
