The dpi setting you can use depends on available memory at the time of the scan. The higher the dpi, the more memory the scan will require. " Resolution selector: This selector allows you to select the dots per square inch (dpi) of the scanned image between 100-400 dpi. The higher the resolution, the clearer the image will be. (The higher the dpi, the smaller the image.) Maximum image size per dpi setting: At 400 dpi about 4" x 0.4" At 300 dpi about 4" x 0.7" At 200 dpi about 4" x 1.6" At 100 dpi about 4" x 6.4" " Brightness controller: This control lets you adjust the contrast (brightness or darkness) of the scanned image. Rotating the wheel toward the DARK setting yields a darker image, with less visible detail. Rotating the wheel toward LIGHT produces a lighter image with more visible detail. The light and dark settings can enhance an original image by either bringing out more detail, or eliminating shadows and splotches. Again, experimentation yields the best results. Scanner 322
