2 File Manager F ile Manager shows you the contents of diskettes and the contents of the folders on the diskettes. When you open File Manager, you will automatically see the contents of the diskette in the disk drive. Files, folders, and applications are represented by icons. When you want to do something with a file, folder, or application, you can use its icon. For example, to open a folder, double-click its icon. File" and document" often mean the same thing. They do not contain other files or documents. Each one is a single unit. For example, a one-page letter is a document. Folders store documents, applications, and other folders. The contents of the folder appears in the Folder Window, which opens when you double-click on a folder. (The name and path" of the folder appears in the Information Bar.) Menu bar Folder Icons. The terms "folder" and "directory" are often used interchangeably, in much the same way that "file" and "document" often are. Information Bar displays the folder pathname, starting with the name of the diskette and its path, the number of files and folders currently in the folder window, the disk space in bytes (characters) used by the files shown, and the amount of space remaining on the diskette containing the folder. File Icons show you the application that the document was created in, represented by the icon placed over 3 sheets of paper. Title Bar shows you that you are in the File Manager application.
