Modem lights "To connect the modem: 1. Turn off Ensemble. 2. Make sure that the power switch is off on the modem. (The switch is on the back of the modem.) 3. Plug the small end of the AC adapter into the power jack at the back of the modem, and plug the AC adapter into a AC wall socket. 4. Disconnect your phone cord from the wall jack. 5. Plug one end of the phone cord that came with the modem into the wall jack, and the other end into the phone jack marked WALL at the back of the modem. If you have a data modem, insert the other end of the phone cord into LINE. 6. Plug the telephone cord into the other jack at the back of the modem labeled PHONE. 7. Connect the modem to Ensemble's modem connection port with the serial cable provided. 8. Turn the modem on. You are ready to use the modem. On the front of your fax modem are 8 lights. Each light is described below: HS (High Speed) AA (Auto-Answer) CD (Carrier Detect) OH (Off Hook) RD (Receive Data) SD (Send Data) TR (Terminal Ready) MR (Modem Ready) Lights when the fax modem is operating at 2400 bps or faster. If AA lights up, you can answer incoming calls. Lights when Ensemble connects to a fax machine. Lights when modem has picked up the phone. Do not pick up the phone. Lights when information is sent from another modem to your modem. Lights when information or fax is sent to another modem. Lights when Ensemble is ready to send information. Lights when the fax modem is turned on. Using a Modem 326
