S CODE + LEFT ARROW. To the beginning of the current word, or if it is already there, to the end of the previous word. S CODE+ RIGHT ARROW. To the end of the current word, or if it is already there, to the beginning of the next word. S PAGE UP. Up one screen. S PAGE DOWN. Down one screen. S CODE + PAGE UP. Right one screen. S CODE + PAGE DOWN. Left one screen. "To correct as you type: Press BACKSPACE to erase characters to the left of the insertion point. OR Press DELETE to erase characters to the right of the insertion point. If you want to split an existing paragraph into two paragraphs, position the insertion point where you want to split the paragraphs, and press ENTER. "To start a new paragraph: Press ENTER. The insertion point moves to the left margin of the next line. If there is existing text to the right of the insertion point, the existing text moves to accommodate the inserted text. "To insert text: Place the insertion point where you want to add text and start typing. Anything you type is inserted into the document at that location. Selecting Text You can use either the mouse or the keyboard to select text. When you want to make changes such as rewording a sentence or moving a paragraph, you must first select the text you want to change. Selected text appears highlighted (surrounded by black). Once the text is selected, you can manipulate it in many ways. "To select text with the mouse: 1. Move the mouse pointer to the beginning of the word, line, or paragraph you want to select. 2. Press and hold the left mouse button and drag the mouse across the text until what you want is highlighted; then release the mouse button. OR Click at the beginning of the text, hold down the SHIFT key, and click at the end of the text. This table shows shortcut methods for selecting text with the mouse: 2 Clicks 3 Clicks 4 Clicks 5 Clicks Selects a word (but not the space after the word) Selects a line Selects a paragraph Selects the entire document On the last click, if you continue holding down the mouse button rather than immediately releasing it, you can drag to select additional words, lines, or paragraphs at a time.
