Sending a Fax (FX-700 Fax Modem Only) "To send a fax: 1. Insert a blank formatted diskette. 2. Create a document in Word Processing, Spreadsheet, Drawing, Addressbook, Text File Editor, or Planner. 3. Select Save from the File menu. 4. Name your document. 5. Click on Save. 6. Select Fax from the File menu. The following dialog box appears: While faxing, you will not be able to perform other functions on Ensemble. You must wait until the fax is sent. Also, do not turn Ensemble off while faxing, or your fax will not be sent. 7. Make your selections in the Fax dialog box. See the following section, Fax Dialog Box Selections." 8. After you make all your selections, click on Fax. The message Preparing to Send FAX" appears, and then is followed by: Status Progress indicator Current activity If you click on Stop while faxing, to start faxing again you must turn the switch off on the back of the modem, then turn it back on. S To/Fax#/Pages/Date. Shows you which fax is being sent. S Status. The table on page 332 shows errors in sending your fax which appear in the status line. S Progress Indicator. The thermometer indicator shows the progress of the fax. For example, if the fax has 10 pages, including the cover page, the indicator moves 1/10th of the way for each page. S Current activity. Current activity follows this order: Initializing," Dialing," and finally Sending cover page" or Sending page x." S Stop. Click on Stop if you do not want to send the fax. Using a Modem 327
