Inserting special dates Word Processing keeps track of certain date information automatically, such as the current date as well as the date a document was created, revised, or printed. To display any of these dates, you insert the appropriate special date character in your document, in the format you want. For example, you might use special dates in a footer, for example, to display the date on which you printed or last revised a document. Once you insert special dates, you cannot change their value; their value depends on internal Word Processing calculations. However, you can change the value when you insert the current date. "To insert a special date: 1. Position the insertion point where you want to insert the date. 2. Choose Insert Special from the Edit menu. A submenu appears. 3. Choose Special Date from the submenu. A dialog box appears: Select a date type from this list. Select a date format from this list. Sample of the selected format. 4. Select the date type from the Type list. The choices include the following: S Today's Date (Won't Change). This date shows the system date (the date that Ensemble maintains automatically) when you inserted the character. It doesn't change if the system date changes. S Date Document Created. This date shows when the document was created. S Date of Last Revision. This date shows when the document was last saved. S Date of Printing. This date shows when the document was last printed. Word Processing inserts the date even if you have not yet printed the document. 5. Select the date format from the Format list: Longhand, Abbreviated, Numeric, and so on. A sample of the selected date format appears. 6. Click on Insert. Word Processing inserts the special date from the list in the format you specified. Word Processing 134
