Formatting and Copying Diskettes Formatting erases all information on a diskette. Because File Manager makes an exact duplicate of the source diskette, the destination diskette must be the same size as the source diskette. Also note that, during a disk copy, File Manager writes over all files that are on the destination diskette. Be absolutely sure your destination diskette contains nothing you want to keep. You can make a copy of the Ensemble diskettes so that you will have a complete back up. However, d not make a back up of the Ensemble diskettes by copying individual files to another diskette. Some applicaitons will not work properly if you do. "To format a diskette: 1. Insert the diskette into the disk drive. 2. Choose Format Disk from the Disk menu. The dialog box at the left appears. 3. Click the option for the disk capacity of your diskette. 4. Click on OK. A dialog box appears requesting a name for the diskette. Type a name for the diskette (1 to 11 characters long), and click on Format. A message tells you when formatting is completed. "To copy a diskette: 1. Choose Copy from the Disk menu. A dialog box appears. 2. Insert the source disk (the diskette that contains the information you wish to copy). 3. When File Manager has completed copying all the information from the diskette, it will give you a message to insert the destination disk (the diskette on which you wish to copy). Insert the destination diskette. 4. Click on OK and follow the instructions on the screen. You may need to repeat this process several times. The File Manager will show you the progress it is making as it copies. It also gives you the option of stopping at any time. 5. When complete, click on OK. "To rename a diskette: 1. Choose Rename Disk from the Disk menu. 2. Enter a new name (1-11 characters long). 3. Click on Rename. "To rescan a diskette: Choose Rescan Disk from the Disk menu. Formatting and Copying Diskettes

To format a diskette:
1. Insert the diskette into the disk drive.
2. Choose Format Disk from the Disk menu.
The dialog box at the left
appears.
3. Click the option for the disk capacity of your diskette.
4. Click on OK. A dialog box appears requesting a name for the diskette.
Type a name for the diskette (1 to 11 characters long), and click on
Format.
A message tells you when formatting is completed.

To copy a diskette:
1. Choose Copy from the Disk menu.
A dialog box appears.
2. Insert the source disk (the diskette that contains the information you
wish to copy).
3. When File Manager has completed copying all the information from the
diskette, it will give you a message to insert the destination disk (the
diskette on which you wish to copy). Insert the destination diskette.
4. Click on OK and follow the instructions on the screen.
You may need to
repeat this process several times. The File Manager will show you the
progress it is making as it copies. It also gives you the option of stopping at
any time.
5. When complete, click on OK.
