Importing Footage ❚❘❘ A new layer containing the selected image sequence appears in the composite. For information on viewing layers in the timeline, see "Navigating in the Timeline Hierarchy" in Chapter 12, "Creating Animations''. Importing a Still Image You can import a still image and assign it a duration. When you import a still image, the image is placed in a layer and its duration is set to the duration of the composite. Note: You can import a still image in an Edit operator the same way as you do in a composite. However, there are various methods to determine how imported footage is added to the Edit timeline. For additional information, see "Adding Clips" in Chapter 15, "Editing Clips''. To import a still image: 1. In the Workspace panel, select the composite or Edit operator into which you want to import footage. 2. Choose File | Import Footage (CTRL+I). The Import Footage dialog appears. 3. Navigate to the folder containing the footage you want to import or edit the path at the top of the Import Footage dialog, select the image, and then click OK (ENTER). 4. If the image is part of a sequence, make sure you disable the Collapse button. A layer containing the selected footage appears in the Workspace panel and the footage appears in the active viewport. The changes to the composite are reflected in the Timeline and in the Schematic view. For information on viewing layers in the timeline, see "Navigating in the Timeline Hierarchy" in Chapter 12, "Creating Animations''. Importing Multilayer Files You can import file types that support multiple layers (such as Adobe Photoshop files, RPF files, and so on). The bottom layer in these files is opaque, while the alpha channels for any other layers are maintained. You can change the way the alpha is interpreted for the layers using the Channels & Alpha settings. For information, see Changing Channel Settings. When you import these files, you can specify how the system manages the original layers. For information on importing Adobe Illustrator files, see Importing Adobe Illustrator Files. Note: You can import multi-layer files in an Edit operator the same way as you do in a composite. However, there are various methods to determine how imported footage is added to the Edit timeline. Importing a Still Image

You can import a still image and assign it a duration.

When you import a still image, the image is placed in

a layer and its duration is set to the duration of the

composite.

Note:

You can import a still image in an Edit operator

the same way as you do in a composite. However,

there are various methods to determine how

imported footage is added to the Edit timeline. For

additional information, see

“Adding Clips” in Chapter

15, “Editing Clips’’

To import a still image:

In the Workspace panel, select the composite or

Edit operator into which you want to import

footage.

Choose File | Import Footage (

The Import Footage dialog appears.

Navigate to the folder containing the footage you

want to import or edit the path at the top of the

Import Footage dialog, select the image, and then

click OK (
