Color Corrector Interface ❚❘❘ Shadows-Applies changes or corrections to the darkest parts of the image. Midtones-Applies changes or corrections to the midtones of the image. Highlights-Applies changes or corrections to the lightest parts of the image. Note: You can alter the definition of what is considered a shadow, midtone, or highlight through the Ranges controls. See Ranges Controls. Reset-Returns the image to its original state before you entered that particular set of controls. Reset is distinct from Undo, which only removes the most recent operation(s). It is also distinct from Reset All, which resets the properties on all the Color Corrector controls. Color Corrector Pickers Color corrector pickers sample color values and assist you in matching, sampling, and determining color balance. You can sample colors from both the source clip and reference clips. The reference color can be sampled from any operator, as long as it is the current operator. The values of the source pixel appear on the left, in the Source patch. The patch on the right is for the reference color. Note: The color values depend on the bit depth (255 is the highest value for 8-bit). The Result patch, in the middle, shows the cumulative results of all changes as they are applied to the source. Any adjustments you make are dynamically updated in this patch. The colors are sampled using the two color pickers. You can have up to four pairs of sampled colors (one pair each for Master, Shadows, Midtones, and Highlights) in memory at a time. Color Info You can display the RGB, HLS, or Y (luma) values for a sampled color. You can also choose to display the RGB values in explicit values, or express them as a percentage. In addition, you can choose to display no channel information about the colors, but instead just the colors themselves. Color Sampling Color sampling can provide you with exact RGB values for one pixel, or averaged values for an area. To sample a source color for one pixel: 1. Zoom in to the image so that you can see each individual pixel. 2. Select the tonal range you want to sample in the image (Master, Shadows, Midtones, or Highlights). 3. Click the left (Source) color picker. 4. Click the color picker over one pixel.The RGB (or HLS) values change in the Source patch. To sample a source color for an area: 1. You do not need to zoom in as above, but you may do so for precision. 2. Select the tonal range you want to sample in the image (Master, Shadows, Midtones, or Highlights). 3. Click the left (Source) color picker. 4. CTRL-drag the color picker over a portion of the image. This averages out the color for the area. The RGB (or HLS) values change in the Source patch. 647

Shadows

—Applies changes or corrections to the

darkest parts of the image.

Midtones

—Applies changes or corrections to the

midtones of the image.

Highlights

—Applies changes or corrections to the

lightest parts of the image.
