Using Quick Capture ❚❘❘ The clip is imported. 5. Click the Play button. The audio is cached and plays immediately. However, if the video has not yet been cached, the audio will play back only after the video is cached. For more information on using audio in your workspaces, see Chapter 30, "Adding Audio''. Using Quick Capture If you have a capture device (such as a DV camera) connected to your system, you can capture video footage and audio directly into Combustion with the Quick Capture feature. Quick Capture provides a simple way to capture NTSC or PAL footage from a DirectShow ® or QuickTime® DV device. If you have more than one device connected to your system, you can choose the device from which you want to capture. The footage is captured as a Video for Windows AVI Type 2 file or as a QuickTime clip. You can capture either the video stream, audio stream, or both simultaneously. The captured footage is saved to the specified location. If you are using Quick Capture on a Macintosh OS, the captured footage is automatically added in the Footage Library. If you are using Quick Capture on a Windows system, the captured footage can be automatically added to the workspace as follows: • In the Footage Library. • As a layer in a 2D or 3D composite. • As footage in a Paint operator. • As a segment in the Edit operator. You can also grab a single image of video and immediately use it. For example, you can take a "frame-grab" and then start painting with it using the Clone feature in Paint. For motion graphics projects, Quick Capture is a handy way to capture video intended for use as a texture or background. For information on the related preference settings, see "Setting Capture Preferences" in Chapter 2, "Welcome to Combustion''. To capture from a DV device: 1. Choose File | Quick Capture. The Quick Capture dialog appears. 2. To capture video, Enable Video Capture. To capture audio, Enable Audio Capture. Note: You can enable both to capture video and audio simultaneously. 3. Using Quick Capture

If you have a capture device (such as a DV camera)

connected to your system, you can capture video

footage and audio directly into

Combustion

with the

Quick Capture feature.

Quick Capture provides a simple way to capture

NTSC or PAL footage from a DirectShow

DV device. If you have more than one
