30 Adding Audio Audio Waveform Use the waveform to visualize the audio in the workspace. You can work with the waveform in the Audio panel and in the Timeline. Waveform in Audio Panel-Use the waveform in the Audio panel to select a portion of the audio clip to use in the workspace. Click and drag the Start and End lines to adjust the region to use; these lines affect the Start and Duration fields. Click in the waveform to move the Current Frame indicator. Audio Current Frame Indicator Audio Start Audio End Audio Duration Waveform in the Timeline-Use the waveform in the Timeline to see it in context with the layer and keyframes. Enable Waveform in the Timeline controls to display the waveform. CTRL+ALT-drag to slip the waveform in the Timeline. Loading Audio You can load an audio file in the Audio panel, or load the audio portion of footage when you open or import the clip. There is a maximum of one audio source per workspace. You can have more than one piece of footage with audio in the workspace, but only one appears in the Audio panel. It can be mono or stereo. To load audio in the Audio panel: 1. Show the Audio panel. 2. Click Browse. 3. In the Open Audio dialog, navigate to the file that you want to load, select it, and click OK (ENTER). The path and name of the audio file appear in the Audio panel, and a waveform is generated. 4. In the Audio panel, click the Play button to play the audio clip. To load audio when you open footage: 1. Choose File | Open. 2. In the file browser, select the footage that you want to open. 3. In the lower pane of the file browser, select the file that includes the audio you want to use. When you select a file that supports audio, the Set as Audio Source button is available.
