Starting Network Rendering ❚❘❘ 2. Start the Server application on all workstations on the render network. See Starting the Backburner Servers for details. 3. In some cases, the Server may fail to connect to the Manager. In this case, some steps must be taken to secure the connection. See Connecting to the Manager for details. Starting the Backburner Manager Before a network render can begin, Manager must be started on a workstation designated as the manager for the network rendering session, and Server must be started on each workstation participating in the network render. To start the Manager application: 1. Go to the workstation designated as the render manager. 2. Do one of the following: • Choose Start | Program Files | Autodesk | Backburner | manager. • Open the Backburner folder and double-click manager.exe. 3. Click OK. The Manager window appears and the messages "Starting Network Manager" and "Loading plugin: combustion 2008.0 render plugin" are displayed. The Backburner Manager General Properties dialog appears. If other versions of Combustion are installed, or if 3ds max is installed, messages appear indicating that the corresponding plug-ins load. 4. To view messages about manager and server activity, keep the Manager window open. Otherwise, you can minimize the window. 821
