The Timewarp Controls ❚❘❘ The Timewarp Controls The Timewarp Controls panel contains a Curve Editor, a set of timing, speed, and interpolation controls, and a Reset button. The Curve Editor The Y axis in the Curve Editor represents the frames in the source footage, and the X axis represents the frames in the output. For explanatory purposes, we display and reference time as frames starting from frame 1. Recall that you use the Display Time As preference to set the time display, and that this preference appears in the Host preferences, under General. The key elements in the Curve Editor are the timing curve (a solid line), the speed curve (a broken line), and the current frame bar. timing curve speed curve The Timewarp Controls current frame bar The timing curve represents the mapping between frames of the source footage and frames of the output. For example, if the coordinates of a point on the curve are (18, 35), frame 35 of the source footage outputs as frame 18 of the timewarped result. You can change the shape of the timing curve by adding keyframes to it, and then manipulating the keyframes using the mouse or pen. You can also use the Timing box to offset the curve along the Y axis, or adjust the position of an individual keyframe along the Y axis. The speed curve represents the speed at which the source footage is playing at any given point in time, relative to its original speed. For example, if a point on the speed curve has a value of 200%, at that point the timewarp is playing the source footage twice as fast as the original footage. You cannot manipulate the speed curve using the mouse or pen. You can however use the Speed box to change the speed at a given frame. The timing curve cannot drop below the X axis or rise above the last frame in the source footage (an output frame must always map to one of the frames of the source footage). The speed curve can drop below the X axis or rise above the last frame in the source footage. If the curve drops below the X axis, the footage plays in reverse. The Timewarp Controls

The Timewarp Controls panel contains a Curve

Editor, a set of timing, speed, and interpolation

controls, and a Reset button.

The Curve Editor

The Y axis in the Curve Editor represents the frames

in the source footage, and the X axis represents the

frames in the output. For explanatory purposes, we

display and reference time as frames starting from
