Note: Changes made to the original operator are not automatically re-rendered for the committed clip. To learn how to append another set of committed frames or replace committed frames with an updated set, see Updating and Managing Committed Footage. When you delete the Footage operator for a committed clip, the clip or image sequence on the disk is not deleted. Therefore, it is a good idea to create a folder to use as a "scratch disk" for committed frames. You keep these images separate Video Output options for Commit to Disk dialog from other source footage so you can easily delete the images later. To commit an operator to disk: 1. In the Schematic view (F12) or Workspace panel (F3), select the operator you want to commit to disk. 2. Right-click and choose Commit to Disk. 3. In the Commit to Disk dialog, in the Video Output group, select a format, and change other output settings as needed. These options are the same as those in the Render Queue dialog. See "Video Output Options" in Chapter 31, "Rendering'' for details. Note: For uncompressed frames, you may want to use the TGA format. For compressed frames, you can use the PNG format. PNG files are still lossless, but the compression saves disk space. 4. Click Filename to set the filename and path for the committed frames. Note: If you forget to do this, the Save dialog appears when you click Process. 5. Click Process. As the frames for the clip are rendered, the status is displayed on the status bar and in the progress area to the right of the thumbnail. When rendering is finished, the dialog closes. 189
