Using the Command Line Renderer ❚❘❘ Current Render The top section of the panel includes the following information: Operator and Output-Displays the name of the operator and output that are currently rendering. Progress-Displays information on the current frame being rendered. This information updates as frames are rendered. Frame Times-Displays information on the time required to render each frame. Use Last Difference Average To View the number of seconds it took to render the last frame. View the difference, in seconds, between the time it took to render the last frame and the time it took to render the frame before it. View the average time it took to render one frame in the current output. Output-Displays the filename, frame size, bit depth, and format of the output file created. All Renders The bottom section of the panel displays information on the current render process, including all enabled outputs in the queue. Using the Log Panel Use the Log panel to view information about the last queue that you processed. Once rendering is complete, click on the Log tab to view the log. The log is also saved to a file in the Renders folder located in the Combustion root folder (this location depends on the directory to which you installed the application). This folder and its contents are only visible if you set your workstation to display hidden files and folders. To do this, choose Tools | Folder Options from Windows Explorer. Enable the Show Hidden Files and Folders option under the View tab. Using the Command Line Renderer A stand-alone command-line renderer, ShellRenderer.exe, is packaged with this version of Combustion. You can use it to quickly render workspaces, or create your own scripts to batch process, without needing to manipulate the rendering options by hand in the Combustion user interface. The shell renderer is located in the Combustion program folder. Usage for the shell renderer is as follows: shellrenderer.exe -file [options] The options available in the shell renderer behave in exactly the same way as they do when rendering in Combustion. Any options that cannot be set through shell renderer commands will use the default settings. For example, you can specify a file format in the shell renderer, but not the format options. The default settings for the selected file format will be used automatically. However, if you need to configure options that are not accessible in the shell renderer, you can create a preset and then apply it via the command line. For more information, see Creating and Deleting Presets. When using presets in this manner, you can override any of the settings by specifying them in the command line-options in the command line take precedent. Before using the shell renderer, you must first define your outputs in the Autodesk Combustion Render Queue. Only one output can be rendered per command, though you can specify which output to render. By default, the first output in the list will be 775
