12 Creating Animations Click Randomize Convert To Adjust the value randomly at the selected keyframes. When you click this button, the Amount field appears. This operation randomly shifts the values at each keyframe up or down within the value you enter in the Amount field. Create real keyframes out of extrapolated channels. For instance, you have a channel that loops at the end. If you run the Convert math operation on that channel, you can choose to convert any number of repetitions of that loop into keyframes which you can then edit. Note: For information on the Convert Expression option, see "Converting Expressions" in Chapter 13, "Creating Expressions''. 4. If necessary, enter the operation parameters. 5. Enable Preview Changes to see the how the selected keyframes are changed by the operation without closing the Math Operations dialog. 6. Click Apply to apply the operation to the selected channel or keyframes. Cutting, Copying, and Pasting Keyframes You can cut, copy, and paste keyframes in the Timeline between channels of a similar type. For instance, you can copy the X Position keyframes for one layer and paste them into the X, Y, or Z Position channel for another layer. To cut or copy keyframes from the Timeline: 1. In the Workspace panel (or active viewport), select the layer that contains the keyframes you want to cut or copy. 2. Click the Timeline tab. 3. In the Timeline, expand the category with the keyframes you want to cut or copy, then select the channel. All the keyframes for that channel are selected. 4. To cut or copy only certain keyframes, select those keyframes. The other keyframes are automatically deselected. 5. To cut the keyframes, choose Edit | Cut (CTRL+X). 6. To copy the keyframes, choose Edit | Copy (CTRL+C). To paste keyframes into a channel: 1. Cut or copy keyframes as described in the preceding steps. 2. Navigate to the channel to which you want to paste the keyframes and click the channel to select it. 3. Position the Timeline cursor where you want the first keyframe to be pasted. 4. Choose Edit | Paste (CTRL+V). The keyframes are pasted into the selected channel starting at the location of the Timeline cursor. Deleting Keyframes You can delete keyframes from the Timeline. Combustion recalculates the animation between the remaining keyframes using interpolation. To delete keyframes: 1. Click the expand/collapse triangles until the channel that contains the keyframes is visible. 2. Select the channel. All the keyframes for that channel are selected. 3. To delete only certain keyframes, select those keyframes. The other keyframes are automatically deselected. To select several keyframes at once, draw a selection box around the keyframes, or SHIFT-click each one. Selected keyframes are highlighted. 4. Press the DELETE key. The selected keyframes are deleted. 296
