About Capsules A Capsule operator is compound operator which contains a processing pipeline of multiple operators and inputs, and a single output. In its simplest form, it is a group of operators and settings that you can save to a library and reuse to easily apply common processing nodes to your clips. For example, you can create capsules for common keyer and color corrector setups, or perhaps create a basic "film-look" capsule to add glow, color correction, and grain to footage that will make it look like old film stock. The power of capsules comes from both the ability to reuse and share them, as well as the fact that you can preconfigure the channel settings and then choose which channels you will expose for modification. Capsules effectively provide the means for creating a completely customized operator. Once you have created a capsule, you can use it as you would any other operator in Combustion. Capsules can even be nested within capsules in an unlimited number, creating complex processing nodes that can be applied to your Workspace quickly and easily. A Capsule library containing some useful setups is also included with your installation of Combustion, and is located in the following directory: C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Combustion 2008\Capsule Library\ Creating Capsules You create capsules via the Schematic view. There is no limit to the number of inputs or type of operators your process tree can contain when using them to create a capsule. You can even nest a Capsule operator within another. However, the process tree you use can contain only one output for it to be successfully encapsulated. Therefore, an operator used as a secondary input is considered as an output. Note: Nodes that are not directly linked to each other and group nodes cannot be encapsulated. In the Schematic view, the Capsule node displays a list of the first five operators contained within it. If it contains more than five operators, an ellipsis (...) appears to indicate this. Note that the order in which operators are listed does not necessary reflect the capsule's pipeline. 836
