4 Building Workspaces The Footage Controls panel appears. 2. Drag the sliders in the Start and End fields to set new values, or click and enter the required values. 3. Select Main from the Toggle Footage list to reinsert the original footage in the placeholder. Changing Footage Start and End Points You can change the start and end points of your footage independently of the duration of a composite. When you adjust the start and end points for the selected footage, frames are removed from the head and tail of the footage and the duration changes accordingly. Changing start and end points in this manner differs from dragging in and out points in the Timeline. If you remove frames from the start and end points using the Footage controls, these frames are unavailable in the Timeline. You can then use the end behavior settings in conjunction with the specified subsection of the clip to repeat the clip in various ways. For information on setting the end behavior, see Changing the End Behavior. For information on changing layer duration in the Timeline, see "Navigating in the Timeline Hierarchy" in Chapter 12, "Creating Animations''. To change the start and end points: 1. In the Workspace panel, expand the layer that contains the footage that you want to modify, then select the Footage operator for that layer. Note: You can also select the Footage operator in the Footage Library. Start and End fields The duration of the footage changes to reflect the new start and end points. Extending Solid Footage Duration When you create a branch with solid footage, you specify the duration. For example, when you make a new Paint branch, you can set the duration to 30 frames. You can change this duration later by increasing the End field in the Source controls. Adjust the End field to extend the solid footage, and thus, any operator downstream of the footage. 120
