Position the reference box over a feature you can track. 10.Adjust the settings in the Tracker panel. 11.Enable Hide Objects to hide the lens flare so that it does not obscure the reference feature during tracking. 12.In the Tracker panel, click Analyze Forward to start the analysis. The center point of the effect is repositioned at each frame, corresponding to the reference feature. 13.Save the Tracker data if necessary. 14.Click the Off button in the Tracker panel when tracking is complete. When you play the clip, the effect follows the motion of the reference feature. Stabilizing Stabilizing is a powerful process that represents one of the most common uses of the Tracker. In most tracking the Tracker applies the reference motion to the desired element so that the two are locked. In stabilizing, the Stabilize filter uses the Tracker data to invert the analyzed motion to correct unwanted camera or subject motion. Use 1-point stabilizing when the positional (location in X and Y) motion you want to eliminate is vertical, horizontal, or both vertical and horizontal. Use 2-point stabilizing when the motion you want to remove involves scaling/rotation. It may also involve vertical/horizontal shifts. With stabilizing the shift values are inverted, for example, (3, -2) would become (-3, 2) before they are applied. This inversion results in an elimination of the motion. The Stabilize filter uses the Tracker data to move the image so that the reference feature occupies the same position it did in the preceding frame. In other words, the reference feature stays still because the frame is being moved. The repositioning of the image also introduces a border along one or more edges of the frame, and may involve the temporary loss of some of the image's edge information. You use the mode option in the Stabilize filter to specify how this border is handled. 696
