Histogram Controls ❚❘❘ To reduce contrast with the Output sliders: 1. Click the Histogram button in the Color Correction Controls panel to display the histogram. 2. Click the Master, Shadows, Midtones, or Highlights button to select the areas of the image that you want to modify. 3. Click the RGB, Red, Green, or Blue button to select the channel that you want to work with. 4. Do one of the following: • Position the cursor on the black slider below the Output Levels bar. Adjust the level until the value that you want to use as the lower limit appears in the Minimum field. This has the effect of lightening the shadow areas. • Position the cursor on the white slider below the Output Levels bar. Adjust the level until the value that you want to use as the upper limit appears in the Maximum field. This has the effect of decreasing the brightness in the highlight areas. Match All Use the Match All button to adjust the gamma, gain, and offset for the R, G, and B components of the Master layer. To use the Match All button, you should first sample and store four color pairs, one pair for each of the tonal ranges: Shadows, Midtones, Highlights, and Master. For more information, see Color Sampling. If you have not specified all the color pairs, Combustion will use the following default color samples: • Black for the shadows • 50% gray for the midtones • White for the highlights • White for the master Combustion operates on each of the R, G, and B channels individually. For each channel there are four source and destination values corresponding to the four colors you sampled. Combustion then adjusts the gamma, gain, and offset so that when the color correction is applied to the source colors, they match the destination colors as closely as possible. Gradient Plot Lines The plot lines appear on the gradient under the histogram. After you sample a front and/or reference color, blue and yellow plot lines appear. The yellow line is for the Source color, and the blue line is for the Reference color. Note: You can change the colors of these plot lines in the Setup controls. These lines show the pixel value(s) of the sampled color(s) in terms of the distribution of pixels sharing that pixel value. For example, if you sample a red (for the Source) that is prevalent in the image, the yellow line appears under a high peak on the gradient. If you then sample a blue (for the Reference) that is scarce in the image, the blue line appears under a "trough" or "valley" on the gradient. To reduce contrast with the Output sliders:

Click the Histogram button in the Color

Correction Controls panel to display the

histogram.

Click the Master, Shadows, Midtones, or High-

lights button to select the areas of the image that

you want to modify.

Click the RGB, Red, Green, or Blue button to se-

lect the channel that you want to work with.

Do one of the following:

•

Position the cursor on the black slider below the

Output Levels bar. Adjust the level until the value

that you want to use as the lower limit appears in

the Minimum field. This has the effect of

lightening the shadow areas.

Output Levels bar. Adjust the level until the value

that you want to use as the upper limit appears in

the Maximum field. This has the effect of

Match All

Use the Match All button to adjust the gamma, gain,

Master layer.

To use the Match All button, you should first sample

Combustion
