17 Paint: Drawing Basics To manipulate a group of control points: 1. Do either of the following: • In the viewport, click a control point in the group and SHIFT-click the remaining control point(s) in the Group. • In the Workspace panel or in the Timeline, select the Group. The bounding box for the group appears in the active viewport. 2. Manipulate the group in the viewport, or use the Transform controls or the Timeline to move, rotate, scale, or shear the group as you would any object. See Editing Object Transform Properties. To add a control point to a group: 1. Select the control point you want to add to the group. 2. Choose Object | Add Control Point to Group and choose the group to which you want to add the point. Note: You can select multiple control point to add to a group. To remove a control point from a group: 1. Select the control point you want to remove from the group. 2. Choose Object | Remove Control Point from Group, and choose the group from which you want to remove the point. Note: You can select multiple control point to remove from a group. To ungroup or delete a group: 1. In the Workspace panel or the Timeline, select the Group. A bounding box appears around the group in the active viewport. 2. Choose Object | Ungroup or press CTRL+U or DELETE. In the Workspace panel, the Group element is deleted from the object. In the Timeline, the Group element is deleted from the Point Groups element of the object. If that Group element is the only one in the Point Groups element, the Point Groups element is also deleted. Note: Deleting and ungrouping a control point group are equivalent. In both cases, none of the control points in the group are deleted. Editing Object Tangents Each curve section of a Bezier object has a tangent at the control point. The tangent is a straight line extending outward from the control points with a control point at each end. Use the tangent to control the direction and curvature of the shape at a control point. To edit a tangent of a Bezier object: 1. Select the object. 2. In the Toolbar, click the Edit Control Points option . The object's control points appear. 3. CTRL-click a control point. The tangent appears. 4. Click and drag either of the tangent control points. The shape of the curve changes as you drag. Note: Press ALT while dragging a tangent handle control point to adjust the length of both sides of the unbroken tangent handle at the same time. 464

To manipulate a group of control points:

Do either of the following:

•

In the viewport, click a control point in the

group and

HIFT

-click the remaining control

point(s) in the Group.

•

In the Workspace panel or in the Timeline, select

the Group.

The bounding box for the group appears in the

active viewport.

Manipulate the group in the viewport, or use the

Transform controls or the Timeline to move,

rotate, scale, or shear the group as you would any

object. See

Editing Object Transform Properties

To add a control point to a group:

Select the control point you want to add to the

group.

Choose Object | Add Control Point to Group and

choose the group to which you want to add the

point.

Note:

You can select multiple control point to add

to a group.

To remove a control point from a group:

Select the control point you want to remove from

the group.

Choose Object | Remove Control Point from

Group, and choose the group from which you

want to remove the point.

Note:

You can select multiple control point to

remove from a group.

To ungroup or delete a group:

In the Workspace panel or the Timeline, select

the Group.

A bounding box appears around the group in the

active viewport.

Choose Object | Ungroup or press

In the Workspace panel, the Group element is

deleted from the object. In the Timeline, the

Group element is deleted from the Point Groups

element of the object. If that Group element is the

only one in the Point Groups element, the Point

Note:
