Audio Rendering ❚❘❘ 2. To render audio, enable the Audio Output checkbox. 3. To render the audio as a separate file from the video, enable Separate. The Audio Format and Filename fields become available. Note: The Separate option is unavailable if you disable the Video Output checkbox or select a video file format that does not support embedded audio. 4. Adjust the various rendering options as follows. 5. Click Process. The file is rendered and saved at the location you specified. Audio Format-Several formats are supported: • AIFF • QuickTime • QuickTime Streaming • Video for Windows • WAV Filename-Click this button to open the Save file browser. Select a folder and enter a filename for the rendered audio, then click OK. Format Options-QuickTime and Video for Windows both have default and alternate compressor-decompressors (codecs) you can use to select the way your audio is rendered and compressed. Sampling Rate-You can render the audio at several sampling rates. The lower the kHz value, the smaller the audio file and the coarser the quality. Conversely, the higher the kHz value, the larger the audio file and the better the quality. • Use the lower available sampling rates such as 5 kHz, 11.025 kHz, 22.050 kHz, and 32 kHz for draft copies of your work not requiring great quality, or for streaming web video, where bandwidth is an issue. • Use 44.1 kHz if you are outputting with burn-toCD compatibility, as this is the CD sampling rate. • Use 48 kHz if the file is destined for DVD or professional DAT applications. Bit Depth-You can choose between two bit depths for the audio file: Use 8-bit to create small files and draft copies. Use 16-bit for normal quality and average file weight. Mono or Stereo-Select Mono to output the audio as a one-track audio file; select Stereo to output with left and right channels.
