26 Tracking 3. In the Tracker panel, click Analyze Backward to start the analysis backward. Editing the Tracker's Path Edit the path of a Tracker when you need to adjust the motion applied to the object. To edit the path of a Tracker: 1. Make sure Show Paths is enabled in the Tracker panel. 2. In the viewport, click and drag a keyframe on the Tracker's motion path. The motion path is updated accordingly. Note: You may have to zoom in or hide boxes to be able to select only the element you want to manipulate. Analyzing One Frame at a Time or Tracking Manually Track manually when the reference feature is hidden by another object for several frames and its motion is not predictable, or when the reference feature moves outside the range of the tracker box and its motion is not predictable. If possible, set Type to Fixed when you track manually. The small errors you introduce when you position the tracker box manually are compounded when Type is set to Roaming. To analyze one frame at a time: In the Tracker panel, click Analyze Forward One Frame or Analyze Backward One Frame to analyze a single frame and go to the next frame. To track manually: 1. Pause the analysis when the Tracker loses its reference feature. 2. In the Playback controls, click the Previous Keyframe button . 3. In the Timeline, click the bad keyframe(s) and press DELETE or BACKSPACE. 4. Position the tracker box manually over the reference feature. Make sure the tolerance value is set so a keyframe is set for the frame. 5. Use the frame controls or the time slider in the Timeline to go to the next frame where the reference feature is visible. 6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until the motion of the reference feature becomes predictable enough for the Tracker to track without manual intervention. 7. Restart the analysis. The Tracker uses the positions you set manually for the tracker box when the analysis progresses through these frames. Improving Tracking Speed in a Composite By default, Combustion performs motion tracking in a composite "in-context"-that is, while the motion tracking is taking place, you also see the other layers in the composite. If the composite consists of many layers and/or many operators, motion tracking can take longer. You can speed up tracking dramatically by viewing only the layer that contains the motion that you are tracking. To improve tracking speed in a composite: 1. In the Workspace panel, double-click the layer that contains the motion that you want to track. The active viewport switches to layer view, displaying only the selected layer. 2. In the Workspace panel, select the layer to which you want to apply the tracking data. 3. Perform the tracking. 706

In the Tracker panel, click Analyze Backward

to start the analysis backward.

Editing the Tracker’s Path

Edit the path of a Tracker when you need to adjust

the motion applied to the object.

To edit the path of a Tracker:

Make sure Show Paths is enabled in the Tracker

panel.

In the viewport, click and drag a keyframe on the

Tracker’s motion path.

The motion path is updated accordingly.

Note:

Analyzing One Frame at a Time or

Tracking Manually

Track manually when the reference feature is hidden

by another object for several frames and its motion

is not predictable, or when the reference feature

moves outside the range of the tracker box and its

motion is not predictable.
