Setting Up Your Work Environment You can obtain more uniform and reliable results if you control your working environment. Minimize reflections on your monitor. Calibrate your monitor by eye or with dedicated hardware devices. Adjust the room's brightness to the conditions under which your work will be viewed. For example, a movie theater is far darker than a living room, so your working environment should be adjusted correspondingly. Note: If you want to force the adjustments to be performed in a different order to achieve a desired effect, use the individual controls, found under Operators | Color Correction. Color Corrector Interface The following sections describe the interface elements common to all Color Corrector controls and procedures. Color Corrector Controls The buttons on the left side of the Color Corrector give you access to different sets of controls. When you click a button, the corresponding controls appear. Processing Order You can use any combination of color correction commands to modify your clip(s). Combustion processes your adjustments through a pipeline process of sub-adjustments. Commands are processed in the following order: • Equalize • Rewiring • Hue Shifting • Saturation • Color Balance • Gamma • Gain/Offset/Contrast/Histogram • RGB Curves • HLS Curves • Suppression Tonal Ranges Tonal ranges isolate portions of the image for correction by defining them as Shadows, Midtones, or Highlights. Master-Makes adjustments uniformly across the image. 646
