Customizing the Schematic View ❚❘❘ 4. If you want to display thumbnails for all new nodes, enable Display Thumbnails on New Nodes. Note: Usually, if you enable Always Display Thumbnails options, you disable Display Thumbnails on New Nodes so the chosen node types are the only ones with thumbnails as new nodes are added. 5. Click OK. Displaying Footage Information For Footage operator nodes, you can show the footage details next to the thumbnail. The information is the same as the Footage details area of the Footage Controls panel. When the Footage Information option is enabled, the thumbnail is always displayed. To toggle Footage node information on or off: 1. Select the Footage node(s). 2. Right-click and choose Toggle Footage Information, or press I. Arranging Nodes You can arrange the Schematic nodes in an orderly way using Layout and Auto Layout. These features are similar to the commands for arranging and autoarranging icons on the Windows and Macintosh desktops. To arrange nodes: 1. Select the nodes you want to arrange. 2. Right-click in the Schematic view and choose Layout, or press L. Note: To quickly arrange all nodes, click the gray area of the Schematic to deselect all nodes, then press L. Using Auto Layout You can set the Schematic to arrange itself automatically as changes are made to the process tree. For this feature, the changes include adding and deleting nodes, and changing node connections. The nodes are also arranged when you show the Schematic view in a viewport. To automatically arrange nodes: 1. Choose File | Preferences (CTRL+;). 2. In the Schematic group, click General. The Schematic preferences appear. 3. Enable Auto Layout. 4. Click OK. Changing Schematic Flow Direction There are four settings for the flow direction of the Schematic view: • Flow Left • Flow Right (default) • Flow Up • Flow Down The connection points on the nodes move to accommodate the flow direction. For example, if the flow direction is Flow Right, the input connection points are on the left side of each node and the output connection points are on the right. If the flow direction is Flow Up, the input points are on the bottom of each node and the output points are on the top. To change the flow direction of the Schematic: Right-click the Schematic view, choose Flow Direction and then choose a flow direction, or press the corresponding hot key: • For Flow Left, press SHIFT+LEFT ARROW. • For Flow Right, press SHIFT+LEFT ARROW. 179

If you want to display thumbnails for all new

nodes, enable Display Thumbnails on New

Nodes.

Note:

Usually, if you enable Always Display

Thumbnails options, you disable Display

Thumbnails on New Nodes so the chosen node

types are the only ones with thumbnails as new

nodes are added.

Click OK.

Displaying Footage Information

For Footage operator nodes, you can show the

footage details next to the thumbnail. The

information is the same as the Footage details area of

the Footage Controls panel.

When the Footage Information option is enabled,

the thumbnail is always displayed.

Select the Footage node(s).

Arranging Nodes

You can arrange the Schematic nodes in an orderly

way using Layout and Auto Layout. These features
