The following example shows a Trail 2 particle emitter (saved using the Point Emitter tool) animated by applying the predefined Epicycloid expression script to the X and Y transformation channels. Viewing Expressions in the Timeline ❚❘❘ Note: Expression curves cannot be edited. To view an expression script: 1. In the Timeline, select the channel(s) to which you applied an expression. 2. Click Overview. As you can see, using expressions to animate channels enables you to create elaborate animations quickly. Viewing Expressions in the Timeline When expressions are applied to channels, the Timeline displays the expression scripts and the expression curves-graphical representations of expressions. To view the graphical representation of an expression: 1. In the Timeline, select the channel(s) to which you applied an expression. 2. Click Graph. In this example, the two dotted lines are the graphical representation of an expression applied to the X and Y transformation channels. The Overview mode enables you to view the expression script and to change the expression script's parameters via the Timeline Multi-line Editor. If the expression is longer than one line, the text line ends with "..." . Editing Expressions The Expression Browser enables you to change the the parameters' values of a predefined expression before you apply the expression to a channel. The Multi-line Editor in the Timeline enables you to change an expression's variables and to write your own expressions.
