Using the Clone Tool ❚❘❘ To clone from a source image to a target image: 1. In the Toolbar, select a drawing tool or brush. 2. In the Modes controls, click Clone. 3. Select the clone source. See Selecting the Clone Source. 4. In the Frame field, type the frame number of the frame that contains the image that you want to clone. Frame field example, if you advance the target clip by 5 frames, the source of the clone appears to advance by 5 frames. Selecting the Clone Source You can select a source image other than the current layer for the clone operation. To select a clone source: 1. Select Pick Operator from the Source list. Source list 5. To lock cloning to the current frame, enable the Lock button. To unlock cloning so that it starts at the selected frame and then advances with the clip, unlock the Frame field . 6. Click the Set Position button and then click the part of the source image that you want to clone. Note: The point that you click becomes the starting point of the clone. 7. Click the target image where you want the clone to appear, and begin painting. The clone appears on the target image. 8. To reapply the clone to a different area of the target image, move the cursor to the new area and begin painting. 9. To reapply the clone to a new frame of the target image, go to the new frame and begin painting. Note: If cloning is locked, the original clone appears on the new frame. If cloning is unlocked, the clone is updated: it is taken from the starting point that you picked, but on the new frame. For The Select Source dialog appears. 2. Select the operator corresponding to the image you want to use as the clone source. 3. If the source image you want to use is not currently in your workspace, click Open Footage to import the footage from disk and set it as the clone source. 4. Click OK to specify the new clone source. Specifying the Clone Starting Point Before you can draw your clone object, you need to specify the starting point on the source for the clone operation. The starting point is used as the origin for each new clone object. To specify the clone source starting point, do one of the following: • Click and drag the Set Position button to position the source layer. • Enter X and Y Position values in the corresponding fields. 497

To clone from a source image to a target image:

In the Toolbar, select a drawing tool or brush.

In the Modes controls, click Clone.

Select the clone source. See

In the Frame field, type the frame number of the

frame that contains the image that you want to

clone.

To lock cloning to the current frame, enable the

Lock button. To unlock cloning so that it starts at

the selected frame and then advances with the

clip, unlock the Frame field

Click the Set Position button

and then

click the part of the source image that you want to

clone.

Note:

The point that you click becomes the

starting point of the

clone

Click the target image where you want the clone

to appear, and begin painting.

The clone appears on the target image.

To reapply the clone to a different area of the

target image, move the cursor to the new area and

begin painting.

To reapply the clone to a new frame of the target

image, go to the new frame and begin painting.

Note:

If cloning is locked, the original clone

appears on the new frame. If cloning is unlocked,

the clone is updated: it is taken from the starting

point that you picked, but on the new frame. For

example, if you advance the target clip by 5

frames, the source of the clone appears to

advance by 5 frames.

Select the operator corresponding to the image

you want to use as the clone source.

If the source image you want to use is not
