26 Tracking To position the reference box using the mouse or stylus: Click inside the reference box and drag it over the feature that you want to track. The reference box changes to a magnifying glass to help you find a good reference point. You can adjust the magnifying mode by changing the magnification in the Tracker panel. To position either the reference box or the tracker box using the numerical controls: 1. In the Timeline, expand the layer that contains the reference feature to display the Tracker(s), then expand the Tracker with the box(es) you want to reposition. 2. Expand the folder corresponding to the box you want to reposition. 3. Double-click X or Y, and enter the desired value(s). Or click and drag the cursor over the property's value to change the X or Y value. Resizing Reference and Tracker Boxes You can resize the reference and tracker boxes using the mouse, the stylus, or the numerical controls in the Timeline. You should make the tracker box large enough to accommodate the largest single frame-to-frame motion of the reference feature in the clip. However, consider the following: • Creating a large tracker box increases the amount of processing time required to locate a match for the reference box. • Creating a very small tracker box means that it cannot accommodate a large position change in the motion of the reference feature. To resize the reference or tracker box using the mouse or stylus: 1. Click the center of a box to select it. 2. Drag the handles to resize the box. To maintain the proportions of the box, press SHIFT and drag a handle. To resize the reference or tracker box using numerical controls: 1. In the Timeline, expand the layer that contains the reference feature to display the Tracker(s), then expand the Tracker object, and finally, expand the Reference folder to display the reference box width and height. 2. Double-click Width or Height, and enter the width or height in the Numerical Input dialog. Or click and drag the cursor over the property's value. Modifying Several Trackers at Once You can change the parameters for several Trackers by selecting multiple Trackers and then modifying the setting. (To select several Trackers at once, SHIFTclick each one, or click Select All Trackers in the Tracker panel.)You can change the mode for all Trackers from Fixed to Roaming. Or, you can change the tolerance for all Trackers. Selecting the Trackers Make sure all the Trackers are selected before you start the analysis. (To select several Trackers at once, SHIFT-click each one, or click Select All Trackers in the Tracker panel.) Only selected Trackers perform analysis. In most cases, you want all Trackers selected. However, sometimes you may want only some of the Trackers active. For example, if some of the reference features present difficulties, you might first analyze all the non-problematic reference features, and then track each problem reference feature individually. 690
