4 Building Workspaces If you clicked Individual Layers, the Paint operator contains one object for every Illustrator object. If you clicked Grouped, the Illustrator objects belong to an object group. • Click Paint to import the Adobe Illustrator file as a Paint operator branch. • Click Edit to import the Adobe Illustrator file as a Paint operator belonging to an Edit operator segment. The Illustrator Import Modes dialog appears. 4. Click Merged Image. The render options are active. Rasterizing Adobe Illustrator Files on Import If you do not need to manipulate the individual Illustrator objects, Combustion provides a fast-track method of importing Adobe Illustrator files as rasterized bitmap layers. To rasterize an Adobe Illustrator file on import: 1. Choose File | Open (CTRL+O). Note: You can also choose File | Import. 2. Locate the Adobe Illustrator file you want to import, select the file, and click OK (ENTER). The Open Footage dialog appears. 3. In the Open Footage dialog, do one of the following: • Click 2D Composite to import the Adobe Illustrator file as a Paint operator belonging to a 2D Composite layer. • Click 3D Composite to import the Adobe Illustrator file as a Paint operator belonging to a 3D Composite layer. 5. Select the file format to which you want the Adobe Illustrator file rasterized. 6. Click Options to set compression and encoding options associated with the selected format. 7. Set the channel, frame size, and bit depth options. For more information, see "Video Output Options" in Chapter 31, "Rendering''. 8. Click Process. The Save dialog opens. 9. Use the Save dialog to set a location and file name for the rasterized file and then click OK (ENTER). The conversion process may take some time. Once complete, the new workspace appears. If you chose to import it into a composite, for example, the composite contains a layer, with the 104
