Use Range-Use when Random is enabled to constrain the random timecode generator to a specific range set by the Min and Max sliders. Text Object in the Timeline To view a graphical representation of the Text object, you can expand the Timeline (SHIFT+F11) and all the text object's category. The Timeline list displays the text options and attributes, and enables you to animate the text object's channels either by scrubbing the channels, by adding keyframes, or by creating expressions. You can also set the duration of a character independently from the duration of the text object via the Timeline graph. For information on using the Timeline and animating by adding keyframes, see Chapter 12, "Creating Animations''. For information on animating by adding expressions, see Chapter 13, "Creating Expressions''. Using the Number and Timecode Generators ❚❘❘ Using the Number and Timecode Generators You can insert a Number or Timecode generator into a text object, or create an independent Number or Timecode object. A generator is like a variable that you can program to show a changing value; for example, a number can increase in steps or a timecode can match the current frame's timecode. Inserting a Number or Timecode Insert a generator when you want the Number or Timecode to appear in the same object as the text. 525
