Before You Begin ❚❘❘ Note: You cannot import footage (such as extra layers for compositing) into an existing Discreet Color Corrector branch. The Color Corrector operator is applied to the selected layer. Opening Two Clips for Color Matching If you are matching two clips, open both clips into a composite, and then apply a Color Corrector operator to the clip that you want to modify. To open two clips for color matching: 1. Choose File | Open. The Open dialog appears. 2. CTRL-click the clips you want to color match. In the Open Footage dialog, click either 2D Composite or 3D Composite, and then click OK. 3. In the Workspace panel, select the layer that you want to color correct and choose Operators | Color Correction | Discreet Color Corrector. The Color Corrector operator is applied to the selected clip. 4. Use the color matching tools in the Color Corrector operator to match the two clips. See Matching Colors. Applying a Discreet Color Corrector Operator to a Layer If you are color correcting a clip in a composite, simply select the layer and apply a Color Corrector operator. To color correct footage in a composite: 1. In the Workspace panel, select the layer that you want to color correct. 2. Choose Operators | Color Correction | Discreet Color Corrector, or right-click and choose Operators | Color Correction | Discreet Color Corrector. You can also select an operator in the process tree, right-click and choose Add Operator | Color Correction | Discreet Color Corrector. You can do this from the Workspace panel, Timeline, or Schematic view. Applying Color Corrector Controls Separately You can access four of the five Discreet Color Corrector controls separately from the Operators menu. The Ranges controls are not available by themselves as they do not modify the colors of an image. They specify the luminance ranges over which the other controls operate. The differences between accessing the controls through the Operators menu and not the main Color Corrector are: • You can force processing order to be altered from the standard. See Processing Order. • You can access the desired set of controls without entering the full Color Corrector operator. To apply the Discreet Color Corrector controls separately: 1. In the Workspace panel, select the layer that you want to color correct. 2. Choose Operators | Color Correction, and then one of the following: 645

Opening Two Clips for Color Matching

If you are matching two clips, open both clips into a

composite, and then apply a Color Corrector

operator to the clip that you want to modify.

To open two clips for color matching:

Choose File | Open.

The Open dialog appears.

In the Open Footage dialog, click either 2D

Composite or 3D Composite, and then click OK.

In the Workspace panel, select the layer that you

want to color correct and choose

Operators | Color Correction | Discreet Color

Corrector.

The Color Corrector operator is applied to the

selected clip.

Use the color matching tools in the Color

Corrector operator to match the two clips. See

Applying a Discreet Color Corrector

Operator to a Layer

If you are color correcting a clip in a composite,

simply select the layer and apply a Color Corrector

operator.

To color correct footage in a composite:

In the Workspace panel, select the layer that you

want to color correct.

Choose Operators | Color Correction | Discreet

Color Corrector, or right-click and choose

Operators | Color Correction | Discreet Color

Corrector.

The Color Corrector operator is applied to the
