4 Building Workspaces To change the end behavior: 1. Show the Output controls for the Footage operator. 2. Select an option from the End Behavior list. End Behavior list Repeat field The following options are available. Select Stop at End Ping Pong Loop Hold Last Frame To Stop playback normally on the last frame of the clip. Play the clip from start to end, then play backwards to the start again. The value in the Repeat field determines how many times this cycle is repeated. Play the clip from start to end then return to the Start frame and play it again. The value in the Repeat field determines how many times this cycle is repeated. Play the clip from start to end, then hold the End frame for the number of frames indicated in the Repeat field. 3. Depending on the specified end behavior, enter the number of times to repeat playback in the Repeat field. Changing Footage Direction You can reverse playback direction for selected footage using the Reverse Footage option in the Output controls. To reverse playback direction: 1. Show the Output controls for the Footage operator. 2. Enable Reverse Footage. The next time you play back the footage, it plays in reverse. Specifying Frame Holding Duration You can specify a hold duration for each frame. For instance, if you set the Hold Frame Duration to 2, the footage moves ahead one frame as the composite moves ahead by two. This is the same as setting the frame rate to 15 fps. If you change the frame hold duration, the clip duration also changes. By setting the hold duration to two, you are doubling the length of the clip. Set the frame hold duration to three to triple the length of the clip, and so on. This is a particularly useful setting for cartoon animators. For instance, if you import an image sequence for which each frame has to repeat four times before advancing, the associated frame rate would have to be 7.4925 fps. It is much easier to set this using the Hold Frame Duration option than by trying to calculate this value in frames per second. To specify a hold duration: 1. Show the Output controls for the Footage operator. 2. Enter a value in the Hold Frame Duration field. The next time you play back the footage, its frames advance according to the specified hold duration. Using Time Stretch and Frame Blending Use the Time Stretch options to stretch or compress the duration of the footage. The duration of the clip is updated according to the changes you make to this option. For example, if you reduce the speed of a 15frame sequence set at 30 fps to 50%, the duration of the clip becomes 1 second. The frame rate of the clip is not affected. 116

Show the Output controls for the Footage

operator.

Select an option from the End Behavior list.

The following options are available.

Depending on the specified end behavior, enter

the number of times to repeat playback in the

Repeat field.

Changing Footage Direction

You can reverse playback direction for selected

Output controls.

Enable Reverse Footage.

The next time you play back the footage, it plays

in reverse.

Specifying Frame Holding Duration

You can specify a hold duration for each frame. For

instance, if you set the Hold Frame Duration to 2, the

footage moves ahead one frame as the composite

moves ahead by two. This is the same as setting the

frame rate to 15 fps.
