Using the Vectorscope ❚❘❘ • Source and destination colors in the Color Warper. Source colors are the color values in the reference clip and destination colors are the color values in the result clip. To view color information in either the 2D or 3D vectorscope: 1. Do one of the following: • Choose Window | Vectorscope | Show. • Right-click the viewport and choose Vectorscope | Show. • Press SHIFT+V. 2. If necessary, select the 2D or 3D vectorscope by doing one of the following: • Choose Window | Vectorscope. • Right-click the viewport and choose Vectorscope. Choose 2D or 3D from the submenu. 2D-Use the 2D vectorscope to analyze the color content of the clip and locate specific colors in terms of their chroma values. When you view a clip in the 2D vectorscope, you see it in terms of hue and saturation. The size and placement of the color squares in the 2D vectorscope show the distribution of all the colors in the clip, like a color wheel; the distance from the center to the perimeter of the scope maps color saturation, with the outside edge of the scope delineating pure color. 3D-Use the 3D vectorscope to both analyze the color content of the clip and to locate specific colors in terms of their chroma and luma values. When you view a clip in the 3D vectorscope, you see it in terms of HLS (hue, lightness, and saturation). Its X, Y, and Z axes represent red, green, and blue, and the size and placement of the color cubes show the distribution of all the colors of the clip in RGB color space. Customizing the Vectorscope Display You can customize both the appearance of the vectorscope and how it displays color information by selecting options from the Vectorscope submenu. To change the vectorscope's appearance: 1. Do one of the following: • Choose Window | Vectorscope. • Right-click the viewport and choose Vectorscope. 2. Set the following options to customize the display of the 2D or 3D vectorscope: Enable Show Canvas Show Outlines To Show the vectorscope canvas. When the canvas is off, the vectorscope is transparent, but can be outlined. Show the vectorscope outline. To set the size of the color squares or cubes that appear in the vectorscope, or to position the 45

Using the Vectorscope

vectorscope:

doing one of the following:

Choose 2D or 3D from the submenu.

2D—

Use the 2D vectorscope to analyze the color

content of the clip and locate specific colors in

terms of their chroma values. When you view a

clip in the 2D vectorscope, you see it in terms of

hue and saturation. The size and placement of the

color squares in the 2D vectorscope show the

distribution of all the colors in the clip, like a color

3D—

Use the 3D vectorscope to both analyze the
