29 Adding Lighting Effects Lighting Interface This section briefly describes all the Light controls available in Combustion. It is intended as a quick reference for those who are familiar with lighting composites. Learn more about how to use these controls later in the chapter. To access the Light controls: 1. Select a composite. 2. Select a light. A few ways to select a light are listed in Selecting Lights. 3. In the Composite Controls panel, click the Light button. The Light controls appear. Source Light Controls These controls determine the way in which a source light projects light, as well as the light color and intensity. Distant-Sets the current light as a distant light, which projects light onto objects as if from an infinite distance. Point-Sets the current light as a point light, which projects light in all directions from a single point. Spot-Sets the current light as a spotlight, which projects light with a defined beam that is aimed in a specific direction. Intensity-Sets the amount of light emitted by a source light. Cone Angle-Controls the size of the beam of light (for spot lights only). Soft Edge-Controls the diffuseness, or softness, of the beam edge (for spot lights only). Color-Sets the color of the light. The color of a light is white (RGB 100%, 100%, 100%) by default. Ambient Light Controls These controls determine the color and intensity of the ambient light. Ambient light is a constant amount of diffuse light in the composite. Ambient Intensity-Sets the amount of ambient light in a composite. Ambient Color-Sets the color of the ambient lighting in a composite. The ambient color is white (RGB 100%, 100%, 100%) by default. Note: Ambient light is global to the composite. In other words, if there are several source lights in the composite, the ambient light settings are the same in all the Light controls.
