Creating Gradients ❚❘❘ Editing a Gradient You can fine-tune a gradient by editing its profile. You can add and remove tags, and change the color/ opacity of a tag. You can also adjust the range of each color, use a different type of profile, or create an evenly distributed profile. To edit a gradient's profile: 1. Select the object with the gradient you want to change. 2. Click the Gradient button to access the Gradient controls. To add a gradient tag: Click the gradient bar at the position where you want to add the tag. To move a gradient tag: Click and drag the tag to a new position. To remove a gradient tag: Select the tag(s), and click the Remove Tags button . To adjust gradient tag handles: 1. Click a gradient tag to select it. A handle appears under the selected tag. More gradual gradient Expanded gradient handles • Drag the handle inward to reduce the range and create a sharper gradient. • To adjust each side of the handle separately, press ALT while dragging a tag. Separated gradient handles To distribute the tags evenly: Click the Distribute button . To reverse the order of the opacity or color tags: Click the Reverse Tags button to reverse all the tags on both gradient bars. Gradient handle 2. You can adjust the handles as follows: • Drag the handle outward to expand the range and create a more gradual gradient. Changing Gradient Type Once you create one type of gradient, you can change it to any of the other available gradient types. These can include: linear gradient, radial gradient, radial sweep gradient, and spiral gradient. 487
