For example, when you import a 16-bit TIFF file, the Depth list in the Output controls is set to 16 Bit. You can change the bit depth in the Footage operator. To learn about the preferences that control how Cineon files are imported, see Converting Cineon Files to Linear. To change footage bit depth: 1. In the Workspace panel, select the Footage operator. The Footage Controls panel appears. 3. From the Depth list, select another bit depth. Note: To see the original bit depth of the footage, look at the Footage details at the right side of the panel. The total number of bits in the color and alpha channels is shown (for example, 24 bits for an 8-bit image without an alpha channel). 4. Setting Composite Bit Depth You can set the bit depth when you create a composite. The Composite operator changes the bit depth of all layers to match the selected setting. If you open footage into a new composite (using File | Open), the composite settings (including bit depth) are taken from the first piece of footage selected.
